I swim every week. In the morning and early!
This week I totally immersed myself. I don’t just mean physically but with my whole being.
I felt it cool me after a hot nights sleep. Sensed my body coated in the flow as it gently stretched out and glided easily in the pool.
I floated softly and heard the gurgling underwater noises. Lulled myself into a relaxed and weightless state listening to the gentle lapping as I swam.
It softened my body and mind. Eased my tension.
I let go of my solidity.
I have always loved the water. It has always hypnotised me. Even running a tap long enough can keep me mesmerised!
It made me ponder the other ways in which we can immerse ourselves.
Cooking. Cleaning. Gardening.
As I write this blog. I don’t see what is around me. I just am.
It becomes less about the task but more about being present with our thoughts.
The monotony of the job at hand allows our mind to wander and we become. . . who we really are.
We shed our outer layer of who we ought to be and we just become our perfect selves.
Nothing more and nothing less.
For what else is there?
We constantly rush past all the good stuff. The creativity. The joy. The love we hold inside.
I don’t believe it’s about becoming something. It’s about getting to know who we are and shedding the outer casing to find our true self.
Wayne Dyer explained:
“When you squeeze an orange, orange juice comes out – because that’s what is inside.What comes out of you when you are squeezed is what is inside of you.”
Think about what that is. What really is inside of you?
Immerse yourself in that thought while you are hoovering or ironing next time.
Turn off the noise of the T.V and radio and listen to yourself.
Because there really is no before and after.
There is only now.
This moment to belong to.
