Self Reiki Practice


What is self reiki?


Reiki self-healing is the most basic and quite possibly the most important way of practicing Reiki. It’s the first thing you learn after you go through the attunement process and what should be a regular practice form there on.


I guide all my students to practice self- reiki for at least 21 days post attunement to integrate and to understand the energy for themselves, to journal and notice the shifts in body, mind and spirit.


On many occasions students will say it feels difficult. They may have experienced powerful changes and shifts within the training but then report they aren't doing it right or that it's not working. I often say "keep it simple, don't push" or "use it as a daily mediation practice"


Reiki is simple. There is nothing to do, as such, just allowing and being with the energy and noticing the subtle changes is just perfect.


I struggled a lot after my first attunement. I constantly asked questions, got stuck in the mind and "doing it right" and it blocked much of my progress. When all I really I needed was to drop into the energy and learn from it.


So how do I do that?


I come into a comfortable seated position with my spine supported and my hips higher then my knees, if on the floor.


I ask for Reiki to flow and notice my breathing. I tune into the flow of my breath and slow everything down.


I notice each of the chakras and, one by one, take some breaths into each energy centre. Sometimes I use the symbols and sometimes I just intend for reiki to flow to each one.


If I feel guided then I use my hands and place them on the chakra or area too.


It is really that simple. You can set a timer or whatever feels right. I tend to just go with the flow.


It' s usually about a ten minute process and I just allow the energy to flow and see what comes up. By simply bringing attention to the body with breath and awareness, then slowly you will start to notice a difference.


Reiki doesn't have to be difficult, I promise.
